The symptoms experienced by people with MS can be caused by a number of other medical conditions or problems.   People with symptoms which may be MS or another condition should be referred to a general neurology clinic.

There is no definitive test for MS and diagnosis will involve considering the various symptoms and ruling out other explanations. This process can take some time.

There are around 2500 people with multiple sclerosis in Lothian.
