What does a neurologist do?
Neurologists diagnose diseases and disorders of the nervous system. Patients may have symptoms such as limb weakness, tingling, headache, dizziness, tremor and memory problems.
A consultant neurologist has trained for at least 12 years (5 years in medical school) in making a diagnosis. Most of the information to make the diagnosis is based on the story of the patient (for example blackouts and headaches). The neurological examination and subsequent investigations may also help.
